This 7.25 x 10.25 inch, 565 page hardcover book with dust wrapper is the apparent first edition of this title with the 1979 date shown on copyright page and with no additional printing information given. The book is in fine condition with virtually no wear showing to the soft yellow-brown cloth covers - with handsome maroon block on the spine with gilt titling inside this block. The interior text is strictly fine and As New - with no damage or markings showing - and with multiple illustrations and maps throughout the book. The dust wrapper is in near fine condition with just a bit of time-wear showing to the top and bottom of the wrapper and with some wear showing at the folds - and with the $22.50 price shown on the inside flap of the dust wrapper at the bottom. Since its publication in 1979 this book has become a standard for research and coverage of the overland experience across the American West in 1840-1860. 565 pages.
