Book First Edition
Decorative Boards. Condition: Very Good. Maurice Parent (illustrator). First Edition. Decorative cloth and boards. Slight wear to edges of boards Illustrated throughout of the birds and the beasts of the fields and jungles. We start with the birds seen in our gardens, take a very brief look at them and then go into the world beyond, into the fields and the woods, along the streams and the rivers, down to the lakeside and to the shore. We pass from the lowlands to the mountains, and we pass across the continent of Europe to Africa and India. Many of the birds will be familiar to us, even those that live long distances away, for birds have this great advantage over almost every other kind of animal, that they can fly long distances.

First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. K. Nixon (illustrator). First Edition. 500 g; 64 pages, illustrated with black-and-white drawings, and 15 of full-page colour plates. Illustrated end pages, illustrated front panel of the book, and colour illustrated dust jacket featuring sulphur crested cockatoos over both panels. The front fold over flap has been price clipped, but does have the publisher's price sticker pasted to it. This suggests that it was not price clipped after purchase, but rather by the publisher. Unfortunately there is a 3 inch tear without loss at the top left-hand side of the front panel of the dust jacket. Other than this, there is trivial rubbing to the top edge of the dust jacket. Neat ownership inscription on the verso of the front end page (which is also illustrated). Brilliant colours to the plates, and there is almost a sense of movement and alertness to the drawings. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Illustrator: K. Nixon. Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo. Category: Natural History & Resources; Inventory No: 0222052.
