Softcover. Condition: Good. Sun Piao is released from Ankang, the psychiatric hospital for Chinese dissidents, and demoted to working in the Vice Squad, ostensibly a non-job since the Chinese authorities claim there is no vice in the People's Republic. But, before you know it, he is trying to solve a string of murders of prostitutes, murders in which elite army officers are implicated. It is a case no one wants and no one wants solved since it spells danger to all involved. As his fellow PSB Officers are butchered, Sun Piao's investigations lead him to take on the princelings, the sons of the highest cadre in China, as he seeks justice for his colleagues and the murdered women. Finding the evidence that his superiors do not want him to find leads him to become involved in a power struggle between the old and the new guard.

Book First Edition
Softcover. Condition: Good. 1. Ed. There are three loves in the life of Joris Borluut, the town carillonneur of Bruges. He marries the fiery Barbe, whose dark beauty is a reminder of Belgiums Spanish heritage. Repelled by her harshness and violence, he starts an affair with her sister, the gentle, soulful, fair-haired Godelieve. When her sister discovers their affair, Godelieve enters a Beguine convent and Joris devotes himself to his first love, the old city of Bruges. His opposition to a proposal to sacrifice part of the old town to economic advance loses him his position as town architect, and he withdraws to the belfry and his beloved carillon that, for him, expresses the soul of Bruges.

Softcover. Condition: Good. Ten years in the making, First Light is Chris Agee's long-awaited second collection of poems. Transnational in scope and theme, the volume moves between New England, Ireland, the Balkans, England, Russia and Mexico. Many of the poems deal with historical violence or change; the counter-historical nature of the imaginative order; or the natural abundance of Mediterranean and North American wilderness.

Book
Softcover. Condition: new. Franz Polzer is a man who is dominated by irrational fears; even a friendly smile seems to conceal a hidden menace. He keeps the world at bay by organising his life according to the meticulous routine of his work as a bank clerk. He even rejects promotion because it brings the unknown that will threaten to upset his ordered existence. But this precarious order is disturbed by the sexual demands of his landlady. Once the first breach has occurred, he is dragged inexorably down into an abyss of degradation which ends in a grisly murder. The horror of Polzer's fall is emphasised by the matter-of-fact sobriety of Ungar's narrative style.
