Book First Edition
Hardcover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. First Edition. 1927 1st edition. 208pp. Good/None. Hard pictorial boards with minor rubbing/chipping to edges, minor soiling/scuffing, minor creasing. Contents clean and tight but for minor spotting/soiling, loss to a couple of corners, very minor splitting. Romantic illustration to front board of a man in Arab dress and a girl in riding clothes. Score of the popular operetta, with music by Sigmund Rombery and lyrics by Hammerstein, Harbach and Mandel. It is a romantic tale, inspired by tales of Lawrence of Arabia and the Moroccan Riff uprising against French Colonial rule in 1925. It was first produced on Broadway in 1926, but this publication relates to the 1927 production at the Theatre Royal on Drury Lane in London, presented by theatre impressarios Alfred Butt and Lee Ephraim. Scarce in this edition.
