From School Library Journal:
Grade 4-6 What's not to like about a book that features a sixth-grade reading club planning and carrying out a sleepover in the school cafeteria? That's the basic story, but there is much more to it. Janey, an avid and excellent reader, is terribly afraid of the dark. Her parents, a wise, loving, and understanding pair, have made appropriate accommodations at home, but she isn't sure she can make it through the night at school. Rosie, a new, rather odd classmate, lugs around big booksbut has her own fearthat her classmates will find out that she can't read. How the girls face and deal with their fears makes a satisfying denouement to a story which, while light on the surface, deals with very real and important issues. Sure to appeal to fans of Johanna Hurwitz and Betty Miles. Li Stark, North Castle Public Library, Armonk, N.Y.
