Halloween is the scariest night of the year – but this time, the evil is real. You are the only one to discover the terrible secret. What would you do?Teenager Artie Eason accidentally stumbles over a dastardly plot to steal kids using the Pumpkin Code on the dark October night. Danger lurks behind every door. Can he save his friends and family before it is too late? The Pumpkin Code is the new children’s book from Martin Smith, bestselling author of the Football Boy Wonder and the Charlie Fry Series. Each of Martin's stories contains strong moral messages – and this young adult horror book looks at stranger danger, loyalty to your friends, and why you should never, ever give up. Oh, and never trust a goblin either.Praise for Martin’s work:“I got this book to encourage my eight-year-old to read more. He lacked motivation before this. All I can say is thank you so much!”“We love the storyline because it captivates our son’s imagination and encourages him to read. Would recommend to anyone with a reluctant reader ... it's certainly done the job in our household. Charlie Fry has even been our son’s World Book Day choice!”“There are quite a few football books for young children but I've found them to be so badly written and not something that I've taken great pleasure in reading to my children. This is different; we were all captivated in the first chapter and that, I think, has a lot to do with the quality of the writing style.”Whom will the Pumpkin Code appeal to?It has been written as a scary story for children and young adults. The age range is (roughly) 10 to 14. The age range is older than Martin’s previous work – primarily because the Pumpkin Code focuses on the issue of stranger danger for older children.People looking for books similar to The Ghost Files and The Creakers may want to give this a read.

About the Author:
Martin Smith is the author of the bestselling Charlie Fry Series. Since the original release of The Football Boy Wonder in late 2014, Martin wrote the five-strong series of children's football books - aimed at raising awareness about cystic fibrosis and promoting values such as friendship and loyalty. And now it’s time for something a little different. Step forward: The Pumpkin Code - a Halloween-themed children’s horror book with a strong morale about stranger danger, particularly for older kids. Martin is a qualified journalist and spent two decades working in the UK's regional media and internal communications industry. He was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at the age of two and spends his time helping to raise awareness about the life-limiting condition. Martin and his family were the faces of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust's 2017 Christmas fundraising campaign. His work has also been featured in the Sunday Express Magazine and highlighted as an Amazon Success Story. He is also working in partnership with Leicester City Football Club to raise awareness about CF and help to encourage reluctant readers. Martin lives with his wife Natalie and daughter Emily and writes mainly to keep himself away from the fridge and the Xbox. Aimed at children aged 10+, the Pumpkin Code is the first children’s fiction book that Martin has written away from the topic of football. Facebook/footballboywonder Instagram.com/@charliefrybooks
