It’s almost four years since Erin Joyce left Dublin and bought a guesthouse in the beautiful Dunbarra. The move has brought her peace and she has found friendship in the company of warm restaurateur, Marguerite Hayes and romance with local farmer, Ronan Masterson. The Gatehouse attracts a strange herd of guests who don’t seem to want to leave. Shy artist, Hazel, and her sweet silent daughter, Gracie. Brash jilted American, Sandra, who wants to know everything about everyone. And wise old easy-going, PJ, who’s become almost part of the furniture. Erin’s fragile happiness is thrown off-balance by the arrival of Sebastian Gray, Marguerite’s half-brother and A-list Hollywood actor. He is seeking refuge as he recovers from some sort of breakdown and Erin finds herself drawn to the man who used to walk with a swagger and now prowls the country lanes with haunted eyes. What trauma could have brought about this devastating change? But Sebastian isn’t the only one in the Gatehouse with a secret. Why has Hazel left home and what caused Gracie to stop talking? Where does PJ go each week, and why has he become a permanent guest? And what really brought city-slicker, Sandra, to Dunbarra? Erin finds herself embroiled in her guests’ lives and secrets but will she ever be ready to reveal her own.

About the Author:
Colette Caddle is a mother of two rather strenuous boys and spends most of her life catering to their needs. In her spare time she writes novels. Her books would come under the heading 'commercial women's fiction' or to be plain, 'chick-lit'. She worries that these terms may lead people to buy her books expecting hot, steamy romps and then end up horribly disappointed - because they're not. Neither are they filled with car chases, murders, or complicated scams. When asked exactly what they ARE about,Colette, after some pondering, will probably shrug and say 'people.' And that single word sums up a Caddle novel quite perfectly. Her tales are simple and her cast small but she draws you into their lives as she weaves her tales around them and, before you know it you have become a part of the story and the dinner is burnt.
