Kids write more and better when they know they have a real audience. Writing becomes meaningful when their work gets published, and publishing a school or class newspaper makes it all fun and worthwhile. Writing and publishing our own school newspaper completely turned around my language arts program. It's wonderful!
About the Author:
Mark Levin holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Goddard College in Plainfield, Vermont. He has taught middle school, upper elementary school, and served as a K-8 specialist. He currently teaches fifth grade at Carolina Day School in Asheville, NC. After several years of publishing a school newspaper, Mark created and launched the National Elementary Schools Press Association (NESPA), a national clearinghouse for all elementary and middle schools wishing to start or refine school newspapers. Mark lives with his wife, Bobbie, and a variety of family pets in Columbus, NC.
