The journals were written by Sir John Francis Taylor, perhaps the foremost evangelist of the last century. Once resolved, she and her father join Paiyan in late 1987 as he returns to the mission field of New Guinea where death and danger were their constant companions. In 1896, Sir John Francis Taylor spent six months in a particular valley village in the interior jungles of New Guinea. While he was there, German forces detained him. However, before leaving with them, he purposely left his seagoing chest with the village chief for safekeeping, fearing that his life would soon end. That chest contained many personal items, but most importantly, it contained Sir John's personal journals. The chest was built to survive the harshest environments, so his journals were kept in near perfect condition. Upon returning to the States from the current day New Guinea mission trip, Paiyan challenged Grace to use Sir John's journals to write the account of their family heritage. Upon a thorough study of the journals, Grace discovered that her great, great, grandfather had faithfully detailed his life with biographical dedication. The journals also revealed that John Taylor had evangelized a wide swath of the Pacific. John Taylor's legacy is two-fold.
