Japanese history & culture from ancient to modern times: Seven basic bibliographies - Softcover

The first five bibliographies list hundreds of books, articles, documents, etc., by detailed subdivisions under broad topical headings (e.g., "Ancient & Medieval Japan" and "Occupied Japan & the Cold War in Asia"). The last two are brief lists: "Bibliographies & Research Guides" and "Journals & Other Serial Publications." The bibliographies reveal their classroom origins in their arrangement and their lack of an index and annotations. Nevertheless, Dower's selections provide comprehensive coverage which will appeal to students and scholars alike. There is no comparable source available.
