From School Library Journal:
PreSchool-Grade 2-When Henry sees his cousin Annie get out of the car in her clean, frilly dress and shiny shoes, he is worried how she will accept his dog, big drooly Mudge, and their rough and tumble ways. It is not until their Frisbee game that Annie really accepts them and a wonderful time is had by all. Cynthia Rylant's book (S&S, 1994) is read by John Beach in a clear and expressive voice. Each character sounds a bit different, making it easy for young listeners to distinguish between them. A swishing sound of a page turning, which is explained at the beginning of the tape, prompts listeners to turn the page. The second side of the tape reads the book straight through. Slight background music at the beginning and end of each chapter adds interest. Schools and public libraries will find this useful and very popular for beginning readers and younger children who just want to hear more Mudge stories.
