Book Description Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Very Good. Dinah Dryhurst (illustrator). 1st Edition. The second of four (I think) of these "simple but enchanting" memoirs of a childhood in the grim slums of London's East End in the early 1900's. But this isn't all despair and heartbreak; it is an account of the poor-but-happy type, simply an account of growing up contentedly in a world that, as the author says, is "almost unbelievable to those who have lived only in this affluent age". Illustrated with full page drawings. Edges and prelims are lightly spotted, but a very good copy indeed in very good, slightly edgeworn dust jacket with a few marks on rear panel and a couple of tears to top edge.
