From Library Journal:
For this retrospective glance at 20th-century American photography, editor Enyeart asked eight noted historians to write on a particular decade without knowing what the others were writing. The essays are thus distinctive in style and approach and may be considered separately as well as part of the grander theme. Offering a portfolio of over 100 black-and-white plates, richly reproduced in duotone, plus 16 in color (all from the Center's collection), this fine production serves well the occasions that it and the accompanying exhibit celebrate: photography's official 150th anniversary and the Center's new museum building.
