The Shapes Game - Hardcover

PreSchool-Grade 2-- Interesting shape books are not plentiful, so this title is a welcome addition. Tucker's Matisse-like style demonstrates shapes both as separate entities and as parts of the colorful world. Rogers' clever verses complement the drawings and are easily read aloud. The page on which the rhyme appears demonstrates each object referred to, and the facing page combines it into an abstract painting containing clearly identifiable elements. In addition to the basic square, circle, and triangle are stars, ovals, crescents, rectangles, spirals, and diamonds, culminating in a Christmas scene that incorporates them all.
