Kindergarten-Grade 2-In these books, each full page answers a question about the gestation, birth, and growth of the featured young animal. Close-up color photos of a newborn joey that "weighs about as much as a paper clip" and of a pink-skinned panda will interest young researchers. Kangaroo and panda families illustrate characteristic colors and answer the questions "What Do Joeys Do and Eat?" and "What Happens As a Cub Grows Older?" There are "Did You Know?" and "Want to Know More?" sections. The books do not show the locations or habitats of these animals, but they would still interest browsers. These titles will supplement nonfiction collections that already own "New True" or "Rookie Reader" titles (all Children's).
