Like her Weekend Decorating (Warner, 1993), Linsley's new book offers a quick, easy-to-read reference full of helpful hints that can be used to enliven interiors as well as lifestyle tips on such subjects as time management and clutter control. Although some advice is repeated from her previous book, there is enough new information?particularly advice on ways to incorporate new trends in decorating, like using color accents of yellow and cornflower blue and the care of heirlooms?to make this book a worthy addition.

A quarter hour devoted to decorating is the gist of Linsley's latest home advice book. Actually, the shortest thing about her ideas is the writing; implementation, naturally, will take longer. But who clocks the time when the ideas are easy and smart to do? Decorating creativity (and common sense) abounds, divided loosely by subject. Too bad that photographs don't accompany the suggestions; then, again, decorating in the mind's eye is great practice. Barbara Jacobs
