From Library Journal:
The Lover's Guide is a British adaptation of a video of the same title. The book emphasizes developing techniques to satisty one's partner, both physically and emotionally. This is accomplished primarily through photographs of young Anglo couples depicting massage, foreplay, oral sex, and numerous intercourse positions. Though the photos are not pornographic, per se, they are full-color, quite explicit, and dreamy and erotic in nature. Unlike the photographs in Miriam Stoppard's recent The Magic of Sex (Dorling Kindersley, 1992), which are so airbrushed that they could be defended as purely instructional in a censorship crisis, these photographs may prove controversial. Another major problem is the text. It has not been edited for American audiences (e.g., knickers is used for women's underwear, and chemist for pharmacist). In addition, important information on sexually transmitted diseases, safer sex, and contraception is left to a brief penultimate chapter. Not recommended. Previewed in Prepub Alert, LJ 10/15/93.
